Venetian Rewards Review: Worth a Free Sign-Up for One Las Vegas Trip a Year?
Venetian Rewards is free to join, but the entry tier returns about a quarter of one percent of slot coin-in. We priced each tier in play to see what a once-a-year visitor actually gets.

Our verdict
Venetian Rewards is free, clearly written and easy to join, which makes it worth the two minutes at the desk. The entry tier returns about 0.25 percent of slot coin-in, and the perks that matter need tens of thousands of dollars in play. For a once-a-year visitor it is a small rebate, not a reason to choose the resort.
What works
- Free to join, with the full rules published on the Venetian's own terms page
- Rewards Points have a stated redemption value of $0.01 each
- Slot earn rates rise from 1 to 2 Rewards Points per Tier Point by tier
- Points can transfer to World of Hyatt in 5,000-point blocks
- Dining, spa and other resort spend earns Tier Points as well as play
What does not
- Entry-tier slot earn is about one cent per $4 of coin-in
- Sapphire needs 3,000 Tier Points, roughly $12,000 of slot coin-in
- The whole Rewards Points balance expires after 12 months without earning
- Tier Points reset on 1 March each year, so status does not carry over
- Hyatt transfers convert at two Venetian points per one Hyatt point
If you stay at the Venetian once a year, the useful question about its loyalty scheme is not what Diamond members get. It is what you get at the bottom rung, for free, in the three or four days you are actually there. We read the programme's own terms line by line to answer that, and ran the numbers on what each tier costs in play.
A note on method: we did not open a members' account for this piece or cash out points at the desk. Everything below comes from the Venetian's published terms and programme page, plus AwardWallet's independent guide, and every figure is attributed to one of them. Only adults aged 21 or over can join, and the terms say you cannot earn points until your photo ID has been checked.
What the entry tier really earns
Everyone starts in Jade, and Jade is free. The terms say slot play earns one Tier Point for every $4 of coin-in, video poker one for every $10, and table games two Tier Points per $1 of theoretical loss. Spend on non-gaming "Experiential Spend" earns two Tier Points per $1.
Tier Points and the spendable Rewards Points are separate currencies. At Jade, one Tier Point earns one Rewards Point, and the terms put a Rewards Point at $0.01 of redemption value. Do the sum: $4 through a slot earns one cent. That is 0.25 percent of everything you put through the machine.
Whether that matters depends on the game. A slot that keeps 8 percent over time costs $8 in expected losses per $100 of coin-in, and Jade hands back 25 cents of it. Useful for a free coffee, not a reason to choose one casino over another.
The tier ladder, priced in play
Tiers are set by Tier Points earned in a Tier Year, which runs from 1 March to the last day of February. The thresholds in the terms:
Jade: 0 Tier Points
Sapphire: 3,000
Ruby: 20,000
Diamond: 50,000
There is also an invite-only level above those, handled through a host. Converted to play, Sapphire means roughly $12,000 of slot coin-in, or about $1,500 of theoretical loss at tables, or $1,500 of experiential spend. Ruby is about $80,000 of slot coin-in. Diamond is about $200,000. Those are our conversions of the published rates, and they assume you stay in one earning category.

Higher tiers also lift the slot earn rate. The terms give Rewards Points per Tier Point of 1.25 at Sapphire, 1.5 at Ruby and 2 at Diamond. Table games and experiential spend stay at one-for-one regardless of tier. So a Diamond slot player earns half a percent of coin-in back, which is still small.
Why a once-a-year visitor should still sign up
Signing up costs nothing, and there are two practical reasons to do it before you check in. First, anything you play or spend while carded is banked toward Tier Points. Second, the terms say Rewards Points stay valid as long as you earn at least one every twelve months. Miss a year and the entire balance resets to zero.
That second rule is the catch for an annual visitor. If you visit in October one year and November the next, you are fine, but a gap of more than a year without earning wipes everything. Tier Points are harsher still: they reset on the first day of each Tier Year.

Redemption: simple, and a little thin
Points can be spent against eligible purchases at the Venetian and the Palazzo. The terms require photo ID and your card at the point of redemption, and slot credits are loaded by inserting the card into a machine. AwardWallet describes the value as one cent per point, which matches the terms.
The one wrinkle is the transfer to World of Hyatt. Per the terms, one Hyatt Bonus Point arrives for every two Venetian Rewards Points, with a 5,000-point minimum per conversion, a 100,000-point daily cap and 500,000 per Tier Year. Casual players will never reach those limits. The ratio means you are trading cash-value points at half rate, so check that your Hyatt plans make that worthwhile.

Who should bother, and who should not
Join if you will be at the resort even once and plan to gamble or spend on dining and spa. It is free, the entry rules are straightforward and it reads honestly: the headline benefits start at tiers that most visitors will not reach. Treat the Jade earn as a small rebate, not a reward.
Skip any plan to chase Sapphire or higher on a single trip unless you already gamble at that level. The benefits in the upper tiers, such as golf credits, spa credit and airfare choice, are written for regulars with a host. Their value depends on discretion and availability, which the terms say repeatedly.
Gambling carries a real risk of loss, and a rewards card is not a reason to play. This is reporting, not personal financial advice. If gambling stops being fun, the 1-800-GAMBLER line is staffed around the clock.
Verdict
The Venetian's scheme is clear, free to join and honest about its rates, and that earns respect. It also pays back a quarter of one percent at the entry level and asks for five or six figures of play before the better perks appear. For an annual visitor it is worth the two minutes at the desk and no more.
